The Minutmen will be confident despite losing 24-7 to Florida last week, as UMass would hold its own in Gainesville against a tough SEC team. Boston College though will be hungry after it lost 17-14 to Georgia Tech in Ireland, a game which it led 14-10 with just a few moments to go, giving up a late TD that included a fourth-and-19 conversion. Both teams have something to prove this week and we feel this competition will translate into production on the field.
The bottom line: UMass QB Ross Comis looked great against a good Florida defense last week. BC QB Patrick Towles also had a decent game last week and will be playing with a chip on his shoulder. Neither of these teams are known for their offensive prowess, but the conditions do finally seem right for a more wide open affair. Note that Boston College has seen the total go OVER the number in two of its last three non-conference games, while UMass has seen the total go OVER in 13 of its last 17 as an underdog and in six of its last ten non-conference contests.
