The visitors hand the ball to Chris Tillman (9-11, 5.19 ERA) who looked pretty mediocre in his last outing, giving up three runs off five hits with three walks over 5 2/3's vs. the Rays on Thursday. Tillman has regressed at the season has progressed as he's given up 24 runs spanning 24 innings over his last five starts. Unfortunately for the hard-throwing right-hander, a date on the road is not what the doctor ordered to get untracked as he's a poor 4-5 with a ballooned 5.40 ERA away from friendly confines thus far. The home side counters with Tanner Roark (4-6, 4.73 ERA) who was shelled for six runs off eight hits over five innings in a setback to the Marlins on Thursday. Roark has struggled down the stretch as well, he's now given up eight hits in back-to-back outings and has failed to reach the sixth in either. And note that Roark is just 2-5 with a pedestrian 5.02 ERA in all "night" games this season. For the most part, MLB handicapping comes down to the starting pitching and with these two suspect hurlers facing off against each other on Tuesday night, the OVER without question becomes worthy of a second look in this matchup.
