This is a 10* NL-NON-DIV GOY on the Padres runline.
This is a great situational play on a number of levels and while I do in fact think an outright win is possible, in the end I'll recommend to lay the very reasonable mid-sized price for the extra 1.5 runs of insurance.
I'm writing this pick before the Braves inish their fourth-game vs. the Diamondbacks on Thursday, but regardless of that result, I do indeed love the way this one "sets up" for the home side.
SD has lost four straight coming in, so it won't be lacking motivation. It also had Thursday off after a short two-game series loss to the Mariners. From a scheduling stand point, this one works in favor of the Padres for sure.
Spencer Schwellenbach is 2-4 with a 5.02 ERA for the Braves, while Randy Vasquez is 2-4 with a 4.66 ERA for the Padres.
Vasquez comes in off a gem and I say he carries that momentum over here after allowing two runs off six hits while striking out six in what was an unfortunate no-decision vs. the D-Backs in his last outing.
Vasquez also owns a poor 6.21 ERA on the road, and a sharp 3.46 ERA at home.
Lay the price for the extra 1.5 runs; the play is SAN DIEGO on the RUNLINE option.
