The Super Bowl 55 Selection is on Kansas City. Game 101 at 6:30 eastern. KC will try and make it back to back Championships this year. Normally an incredibly hard thing to accomplish in normal times may be a bit easier tonight. KC has not had nearly the distractions a normal Champ would have, especially in the week off leading up to the game. They didnt travel to Florida until a day before the game and coach Reid and the Chiefs wont want to lose this game. In fact Reid whose Chiefs played with bulls eyes on their back all season with several close wins and no one uses rest to their advantage better than Reid who is 25-4 with extra week to prepare. Systems, Trends, Stats and SB Angles:
Teams with the better defense have won 44 f 54 that goes for Tampa. HOWEVER this has lost the 2 years and we have one better. Through 54 Super Bowls only one team has won with a pass Defense that was worse than League average and Tampa Pass defense was in lower half of the league and this plays against them here tonight and is a large reason why they will have a tough time stopping the vaunted KC offense that has too many weapons regardless of whether the Bucs get pressure or not on Mahomes. KC can set up the run with the pass which will make a solid Bucs run defense less effective.
In games against playoff teams KC was a perfect 6-0 vs playoff teams this year while Tampa went 4-5 in that role. Number 1 seeds have won 6 of the last 7 and the winner in these games are all time 47-5-1 all time to the spread so the 3 point spread shouldnt come into play. Tampa does fit a few of the more recent Dog trends in SB Play but KC Fits the more powerful all time Angles. In the seasonal meeting KC Won 27-24 at Tampa and pushed to the spread. In that game Tampa was all out coming off a bad home loss to the Rams while KC was in a trap spot playing in Tampa off a division win with a division game up next. Another advantage for KC is that they win despite having teams how them looks that were not seen on Tape. Mahomes has aid this has happened all year.
In closing KC is not you usual fat cat champ. They have kept an incredible 20 of their 22 starter and can beat you in a myriad of ways. Brady and the Bucs will move the ball as they have manged to keep him upright in the pockets against the Saints and Packers. If their is one Defensive coordinator in this league that can devise a plan to limit what Brady can do its none other than Steve Spagnuolo whose Giants as a 5 seed pulled off one of the biggest upsets in history knocking off an undefeated Patriots team. The Chiefs win our simulation models and have the better overall team. Look for the Chiefs to repeat.
