#641 ASA PLAY ON Richmond +6.5 vs Davidson, Wednesday at 11:30 AM ET - These 2 teams finished only 1 game apart in the A10 despite Richmond (5-13 record) playing the most difficult schedule in league play while Davidson (6-12 record) faced the 12th rated conference SOS (out of 15 teams). The Wildcats are a pretty significant favorite here despite faltering down the stretch losing 6 of their last 7 games. The Spiders lost 4 straight to end the season but faced 2 of the A10’s best teams to close out the season and played them to the wire losing @ Dayton in OT and losing to George Mason by 4. Those 2 teams finished 3rd and 2nd in the conference respectively. They should have some confidence entering this one after those 2 solid outings. Davidson did beat Richmond in both meetings this season by 6 & 12 points. However, the Spiders actually outshot the Cats in both meetings (higher FG%) and the difference was at the FT line where Davidson attempts twice as many FTs in the 2 games combined (36 to 18) and made 15 more which was huge in 2 games that were decided by a total of 18 points. We can’t expect that disparity again as Richmond actually ranks in the top 120 nationally in percentage of points from the FT line and Davidson ranks outside the top 275 in that key stats. If we can even out the FT attempts, the Spiders should actually have an advantage as they rank 5th in the country hitting almost 81% as a team. These 2 rated pretty close in most of the key conference stats. Davidson shoots a little better from the field while Richmond shoots a little better from beyond the arc (conference games). The Spiders have been the better defensive team in league play despite playing the tougher schedule allowing fewer points and a lower opponent FG%. This is expected to be a low scoring game (total at 130.5) with 2 slow paced teams, making the points more valuable. Take Richmond.
