#901/902 ASA FREE PLAY ON Under 8 Runs – St Louis vs Milwaukee, Thursday at 5:15 PM ET - Brandon Woodruff, who finished the 2001 season with a 2.56 ERA and a WHIP of just 0.96, is on the mound for the Brewers. He had a terrible first outing @ Chicago allowing the Cubs to roll up 7 ER in just 3.2 innings. To put that start in perspective, last season he made 30 starts for Milwaukee and allowed more than 4 ER’s just twice. We expect Woodruff to bounce back and have a strong outing in Milwaukee’s home opener. He has faced the Cardinals 6 times in the last 2 seasons and all but one of those games has totaled 8 or fewer runs and Woodruff has allowed more than 3 ER’s in just 1 of those 6 games. The Cards are averaging 6 RPG through 4 games however they’ve faced Pittsburgh (3 times) and KC (once) who have lower tier pitching staffs and STL did not face a high level starting pitcher in any of those 4 games. The Brewers bats have been silent to start the season averaging just 3 RPG which ranks them 28th in MLB. They’ve already been shut out twice in 5 games. Wainwright is on the hill for the Cardinals and he pitched a shut out vs Pittsburgh in his lone start this season. Milwaukee is averaging just 2.7 RPG over the last 2 years vs Wainwright spanning 7 starts. Cards should also be full strength in the bullpen having not played yesterday.
