But they’re pretty much locked into the #2 seed in the West and really don’t have a lot to play for. San Antonio on the other hand sits 11th, a ½ game behind the Lakers for a play in spot in the West. The Spurs have won 4 straight games, all of which were on the road. These two teams met in late February in Memphis and the Grizzlies were an 8-point favorite which shows how inflated this number is on the Spurs home court. Memphis won that last meeting by 13-points, but Ja Morant scored 52 in that game (and he’s out here) and the Grizzlies shot 54%, which is drastically higher than their season average of 46.2%. San Antonio can trade points with Memphis with the 8th best scoring offense in the NBA, 12th best shooting team and the 7th best rebounding. Memphis is 25-13 SU on the road this season with a +/- of 2.8PPG. San Antonio hasn’t been great at home with a 14-23 SU record and a +/- of -1PPG. All three games this season have been relatively close with two games decided by 13-points and 1 by 8-points. With the Spurs at home and fighting for their playoff lives AND Memphis off a big win over the Warriors who are 3rd in the west, while having #1 Phoenix up next, we won’t be surprised if the Grizzlies look past San Antonio.
