#666 ASA TOP PLAY ON 10* Creighton -3 over Providence, Tuesday at 9 PM ET - The Blue Jays are sitting in a great situation here having a full week off since their drubbing on the road at the hands of Villanova last Wednesday. They lost that game 75-41 and will be extra motivated here after that embarrassment. It was a huge surprise with the Jays coming off a double OT win @ Marquette a few days earlier, traveling for their 2nd straight game, AND Creighton beat Villanova at home just a few weeks ago 79-59 so you can say the Cats were ready for that revenger. While they’ve had a week off Providence just played on Saturday and picked up a home win over St Johns. The Friars most recent road game was vs Marquette one week ago today and a game they lost by 32 points. Providence will be without one of their top players here with AJ Reeves (10 PPG) as he is out with an injury. These 2 have very evenly matched efficiency numbers both offensively and defensively but the situation heavily favors the Jays and they are at home. Providence lives at the FT line with 23% of their points coming from the stripe – 8th nationally. If they don’t get to the stripe their overall shooting numbers are pretty average – 225th from 3-point range and 162nd from inside the arc. That’s not good news for the Friars as Creighton rarely sends teams to the line with just 13% of their opponents points coming from the stripe (332nd least nationally out of 358 teams). If they don’t get to the line they could be in trouble here and without one of their top players, we like Creighton to rebound from their terrible performance last week and pick up a home win and cover.
