Toronto's SP Jose Berrios had a great spring (2.18 ERA over 20.2 innings) and has been electric against the Orioles throughout his career, posting a 10-1 record with a solid 2.95 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Baltimore is a club that I believe will underachieve this season, as its pitching staff has taken a step back with Corbin Burnes gone and Grayson Rodriguez starting the season on the IL. Today, their batting lineup will also be missing SS Gunnar Henderson, which is a significant blow.
With Burnes and G-Rod out of the picture, Zach Eflin will start for the O's on Opening Day. He gave up a lot of hits last season (34th percentile in opponent expected batting average) and hasn't fared well against the Blue Jays in the past. In four starts against Toronto last season, he posted a 5.79 ERA, allowing 31 hits and 15 earned runs over 20.1 innings, including five homers. Vladdy Jr. has his number, too (7-for-19 in his career with two HRs).
Baltimore is the more exciting team, but Toronto is the better bet on Thursday!
