Cal is 3-1 so far, off a loss to the Seminoles and off a bye week and its also College GameDay at Berkeley. Cal almost beat the Seminoles, and despite the start Florida State have had, the Seminoles still have a good defense and Cal held their own. They will face a defense in Miami that allowed Virginia Tech to run the ball all over them, and Cal likes to run the ball. Miami has a long travel spot here with two time zone changes and a late night game start. This is their first true road game and it’s a look ahead spot to their revenge game against Louisville next week. This is such a bad scheduling spot for Miami with a very late night start in this game, that this game will probably start out slow giving the Bears a chance to get some points on the board. Though Cal has struggled a bit with their offense this season, their defense is allowing opponents less than 12.8 points per game. They should check a lot of the Hurricane offense, keeping this a closer game as they slow down this high powered offense. Miami is 1-8 against the spread in weeks 5 through 9 and 0-6 against the spread off a win against a conference rival. Cal is 3-0 against the spread as a home underdog of 7.5 to 14 points and they are 1-0 against the spread after a bye week in the last three seasons at home and after playing their last game on the road, are 7-1 against the spread at home. The Bears are in the national spotlight today and will come to play.
