Maryland is coming into this game with a 13-4 record this season and they are 3-3 in the conference. They have been playing well recently as they have won their last 2 straight as well as 5 of their last 7 games, but their only 2 losses in that span both came in their only 2 road games. They have won their last 2 games against conference opponents at home, beating a very good UCLA team, but that was also UCLA's 1st taste of traveling to the East for their conference games. Now Maryland is coming off of a win at home against Minnesota, but only won that game by 6 points against the worst team in the conference right now. They have lost all 3 of their road games this season and all 3 of those road losses came in the conference as well, losing to Oregon, Washington, and Purdue. They are going up against a Northwestern team that is 10-6 this season and they are 1-4 in the conference. They have not been playing well recently as they have lost their last 3 straight games, but 2 of those losses were on the road and their 1 loss at home came against Michigan State who is one of the better teams in the conference this year. They are coming off of that home loss against Michigan State in their last game too so they are going to be hungry to bounce back here and have played much better at home this season. They have actually won 8 of their 9 games at home this season with a majority of their wins there coming by 10+ points, and their 1 loss was against Michigan State but they do have a very nice win against Illinois at home which is their only win in the conference. Their other 3 losses in the conference all came on the road, but 2 of those losses were also very close games within 4 points. Northwestern may be 1-4 in the conference this season, but they have played much better in those games than their 1-4 record suggests and after losing their last 3 straight games, they are going to get up for this game to bounce back against an opponent they can beat. Northwestern will cover the spread in this game.
