The Mariners are coming into this game with a 12-11 record this season and they have been playing much better in their recent games. They have won their last 2 straight as well as 6 of their last 7 games and they have now moved ahead of the Rangers in 1st place of the AL West with that 4-0 win against them last night. They are going up against a Rangers team that is 12-12 this season and has not been playing well recently as they have lost 3 of their last 4 games, but the Rangers are still trying to bounce back after losing their last series against the Braves and they will be even hungrier to bounce back here after getting shut out last night, especially now that the Mariners have passed them in the standings as well. The Rangers have Jon Gray starting here and he is 0-1 with a 3.15 ERA this season. He had 1 bad start in his 1st start of the season, allowing 5 earned runs in a little under 4 innings pitched against the Cubs, but he has been much better in his 4 starts since then. He has not allowed more than 1 earned run in each of his last 4 starts. He also pitched very well against the Mariners last season as he only allowed 1 earned run total against them in 2 starts, pitching 7 innings in each of those starts. Bryce Miller is starting for the Mariners here and he is 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA this season. He also had 1 bad start in his 1st start of the season, allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings against the Red Sox, and he has been much better in his 3 starts since then as he has allowed 1 earned run or less in each of those 3 starts. Miller is only in his 2nd MLB season though and the Rangers were a team he really struggled with in his rookie year. He has only seen the Rangers twice in his career but he allowed at least 6 earned runs in both of those starts last season and failed to make it 5 innings in either start as well. The Rangers are ripe for a bounce back game and this is the perfect matchup for them to get their win at home. The Rangers will win this game.
