Casey Mize is starting for the Tigers here and he is 0-0 with a 4.82 ERA this season. He has not been a bad starter this season, but he has also struggled to pitch a scoreless outing as he has allowed runs in both of his starts. He allowed 3 earned runs in a little over 4 innings in his 1st start of the season and followed it up by allowing 2 earned runs in 5 innings in his last start. He also gave up 5 hits in each start while only racking up 6 strikeouts total between the 2 starts. The Rangers offense has cooled off recently but they did come out hot to start the season and this could be a game that sparks their offense as Mize is going to give up runs here. The Rangers have Jon Gray starting here and he is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA this season. He had a rough start to open up the year as he allowed 5 earned runs in a little under 4 innings to start the season, but he has been much better in his last 2 starts now. He followed up that 1st start by allowing no earned runs in a little under 4 innings and now he is coming off of a start which he allowed just 1 earned run in 5 innings pitched. He has been improving in each of his starts as he is pitching better and going deeper into games now, he will continue that improvement here against the Tigers. The Rangers have the edge here with Gray on the mound as he is the more consistent starter and their offense should wake up in this game to score some runs as well. The Rangers will win this game.
