Texas A&M is coming into this game with a 21-14 record this season and they were 9-9 in their conference. They are coming off of a 15 point win against Nebraska in the 1st round and their offense has been very good in their recent games as they have scored 80+ points in their last 5 straight games now. Texas A&M is going to have a very difficult time scoring in this game though as Houston is one of the best teams in the country and is a team that plays very well on defense. They have been scoring a lot of points recently but they have actually been a very bad team when it comes to shooting this season. They are only shooting 40.2% from the field and 29.2% from the 3 point mark which ranks in the bottom 30 out of 362 schools in Division I. Even in their win against Nebraska in their last game, they made 35/71 shots from the field against a much worse defending team and they are going to have a more difficult time here getting shots off. They are going up against a Houston team that is 31-4 this season and has the best defense in the country for points allowed as they have been averaging 56.7 points allowed per game all season. They only allowed 46 points against Longwood in their 1st round of this tournament and they have also allowed under 60 points in 4 of their last 5 games. Houston has not been a great team when it comes to shooting either as they rank 241st in the country for field goal percentage while also ranking 127th from beyond the arc, but defense is where they have really done their damage and they are going to get up on the defensive end for a stronger opponent from the SEC like Texas A&M. Houston has the best defense in the country when it comes to defending shots from the field and they are also 11th in the country for 3 point defending. Both of these teams have not been great at shooting this season and Houston's defense is going to play a big role in this game to keep it lower scoring. This will be a lower scoring and more defensive game that stays under the total.
