Virginia Tech is coming into this game with a 19-14 record this season and they were 10-10 in their conference. They bounced back with a win in the 1st round of this tournament as they beat Richmond by close to 20 points, but they were also at home for that game and will now be on the road here. They have actually been awful on the road in their recent games as they beat Louisville on the road in their last game, one of the worst teams in the ACC this season, but they have still lost 5 of their last 6 games on the road. All 5 of those losses on the road were by 8+ points and they have been awful on the road all season as they have lost 9 of their 11 road games this year. They are going up against an Ohio State team that is 21-13 this season and was 9-11 in their conference. They were awful during the regular season and even ended up firing their head coach near the end of the season, but they have been playing much better since making that decision. They won their 1st very game under their interim head coach at home against Purdue and they finished the season very strong from there as they are 7-2 since firing their head coach. They have only lost 2 games under their interim head coach, losing on the road to Minnesota in their very next game after beating Purdue and they also lost by 3 points in the Big 10 Tournament, losing to Illinois who went on to win the Big 10 Tournament. Ohio State beat Cornell by 5 points in their last game which was the 1st round of this tournament and they are going to be at home again where they have been playing much better recently, winning their last 5 straight games at home.
