Oakland is coming into this game with a 23-11 record this season and they were the best team in their conference at 15-5. They finished the regular season with the best record in the conference and they also won their conference tournament to secure this bid. They have been playing very well in their recent games as they have won their last 4 straight as well as 8 of their last 9 games. They have been a dominant team in the conference all season but they also had a very tough non-conference schedule with a lot of strong opponents. They did not win many of those games but they did put up good fights as they kept a lot of those losses within 10 points. They are going up against a Kentucky team that is 23-9 this season and they were 13-5 in their conference. Kentucky has been a very streaky team all season despite having the 2nd best record in the SEC during the regular season. They finished the season with 5 straight wins and had to play some of the best teams in the SEC in that span as well, but they also had a lot of struggles at the beginning of their conference schedule and even fizzled out of the SEC Tournament in their last game which was also their 1st game played in that tournament, losing by 10 points to Texas A&M who was not a dominant force in the conference this season. Kentucky has been great in the SEC this year but they are still a very streaky team and have taken some questionable losses this year, especially in the non-conference schedule. They have bad losses to LSU and Texas A&M twice in their own conference but they also have some non-conference losses against Kansas, Gonzaga, and UNC Wilmington. Kentucky does have one of the best offenses in the country from the field and the 3 point line, but their streakiness will make it difficult for them to pull away by a lot in this game, especially since their defense has not been good which will leave plenty of opportunity for the Oakland offense to keep this game close.
