UTEP is coming into this game with a 17-15 record this season and they are 7-9 in the conference. They have been playing very well in their recent games as they have won their last 5 straight and they are coming off of a win against Sam Houston in their last game who was the best team in the conference during the regular season. That was a big win for UTEP in their last game but they were also very fortunate as they were trailing for that entire game and had to pull off a very late comeback to win. They are going up against a Western Kentucky team that is 20-11 this season and is 8-8 in the conference. Western Kentucky was awful to finish the regular season as they lost 4 straight games, but they have been dominant in this tournament as they have won their last 2 straight games now. They opened the tournament with a 20 point win over New Mexico State and followed it up with a 31 point win over Middle Tennessee State in their last game. UTEP was very fortunate to get by Sam Houston in their last game but they will not be so lucky here, especially since both teams are playing on their 3rd straight day and Western Kentucky has a lot more quality depth to deal with this situation.
