St John's is coming into this game with a 13-7 record this season and they have not been playing well in their recent games. They have lost 3 of their last 4 games, but 2 of those losses came on the road while 2 were also against ranked teams. They also won their last game against Villanova by 20 points so they had a nice bounce back win to get some confidence and even though they are 5-4 in the conference, all 4 of their losses have been against good teams in the conference as they lost to UConn, Seton Hall, Creighton, and Marquette with 3 of those losses coming on the road as well. They have been able to handle their own against weaker teams on the road though as they also have a 10 point win over Villanova as well as a 6 point win in West Virginia. They are going up against a Xavier team that is 10-10 this season and has not been great in their recent games. They have won 3 of their last 5 games but those 3 wins came against weaker teams in the conference and they have also lost their last 2 straight games now. They lost both games on the road against ranked teams in Creighton and UConn and they are coming off of that loss against UConn in their last game which was a 40+ point loss. St John's already beat this Xavier team by 15 points at home earlier this season and they are still the better team in this game looking to take advantage of the opportunities they get to beat up on weaker teams in such a tough conference.
