NC State is coming into this game with a 4-1 record this season but they have not had a very tough schedule to start the year. They opened the season with 4 straight wins, 3 of those coming at home and 1 at a neutral location, but all 4 games were against teams with a record .500 or below. They finally got their 1st real challenge in their last game as they had to play against BYU at a neutral location who is 6-0 this season and they lost that game by 9 points. Now they are coming off of that loss and have to go play their 1st road game of the season against an Ole Miss team that is 5-0 this season. Ole Miss will not only be the 1st road game for NC State this season but it will also be their 2nd game against an opponent with a record above .500. Ole Miss has not had the strongest schedule this season either but they have 2 wins by 10+ points in their 3 games against opponents with losing records and they also have 2 wins against opponents with winning records. Their last 2 games were against teams with winning records and they are coming off of a road win in their last game against Temple. They have also played 4 of their 5 games at home this season where they have been much better and Chris Beard is a very good coach who is already turning this program around this year.
