UNLV is coming into this game with a 9-2 record this season and they are well on their way to the Mountain West Conference Championship. They have been playing very well this season considering they were picked to be one of the worst teams in the MWC this season. They have won their last 3 straight games since losing to Fresno State and they have some impressive wins in that span against Wyoming and on the road at Air Force. They are going up against a San Jose State team that is 6-5 this season and has been playing much better recently as they have won their last 5 straight games. They have had some good wins in that span but their 3 games against tougher opponents were all at home while their 2 road games were against New Mexico and Hawaii who both have 7 losses this season. They started the season 1-5 and went on this amazing run to win 5 straight games and become bowl eligible at 6-5 but now they have nothing to play for after beating San Diego State at home last week to become bowl eligible. They are also going on the road in this game against the best team in the conference this season who is looking to end their season with a high and get to 10 wins before playing in the Conference Championship. Winning this game means a lot more to UNLV with the season they have been having and they also match up very well on the ground with their strong run game as they can take advantage of the weaker San Jose State run defense.
