The Monmouth Hawks and the Michigan State Spartans open the season in East Lansing. The Hawks ended last season 18-15. The Spartans finished at 20-15 and lost in the second round to the North Carolina Tar Heels. Monmouth picked up guard Madison Durr, guard Aric Demings, forward Chris Morgan, center Dok Muordar, and forward Jordan Meka from the transfer portal. They will need to replace their leading scorer. Last season, they put up 72.4 points per game and allowed 72.6. The Michigan State Spartans lost a few significant players in Tyson Walker, Malik Hall, A.J. Hollard, Mady Sissoko. They added forward Frankie Fidler and center Szymon Zapala from the Transfer Portal. The Michigan State Spartans put up 72.9 points and allowed 66.1 points a game last season. The Michigan State Spartans are clearly the better team. The Hawks have a lot of questions after losing their leading scorer. I look for the Spartans to come out and put down the hammer early at home.
