Maalik Murphy threw for 291 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. The defense allowed just 19 points per game last season which was best in the ACC and 16th in the Nation. Northwestern did not look great in beating the Defending MAC champs, Miami (Ohio) 13-6. The defense allowed just 267 yards in the game including just 40 on the ground. Quarterback Mike Wright threw for 178 yds with no touchdowns and no interceptions. This game will be a defensive battle. Both teams are breaking in new quarterbacks so the offenses need time to get things going. Duke won the game last season 38-14. Duke has won the last 5 games between the schools, going back to 2017. Duke held the Wildcat’s RB Cam Porter to just 49 yards last season. Both teams will rely on their defense and rushing attack. Weather could be a factor in Northwestern's makeshift stadium on Lake Michigan Defense and field position will rule the day.
