The Chicago White Sox got off to a good start in their series with the A's behind a spectacular outing from Lucas Giolito. Giolito gave up two hits and one run in seven innings and he struck out eight. It was their first playoff win twelve years. The Sox relied on the long ball once again as they found the seats three times in the game. The Sox find themselves in good shape as they hand the ball to Dallas Keuchel to close out the series. He finished the season with a 6-2 record with a 1.99 ERA. In the postseason he is 4-2 with a 3.47 ERA.

This is a must-win game for the Oakland Athletics if they hope to keep their season alive. The offense didn't the job done against the Sox pitchers as they managed just three hits and struck out nine times. The A's will try and save their season by sending Chris Bassitt to the mound. This season he went 5-2 with a 2.29 ERA.

Bassitt has allowed one run and 23 hits in his last 26.2 innings. while Keuchel has allowed one earned run and 17 hits in his last 20 innings. Keuchel also has the playoff experience while this will be the first playoff start for Bassitt. The Sox have a more potent offense and will lean and the chance at the long ball in what could be a pitchers duel.
