I like Shane McClanahan and the Rays to pull off the minor upset here in Game 1 in Cleveland vs. Shane Bieber and the Guardians.
McClanahan has the experience and that matters here on the road. He finished 12-8 with a 2.54 ERA. Bieber finished 13-8 with a 2.88 ERA.
The Rays are a battle tested team, in the playoffs for a fourth straight year. Tampa continues to defy the metrics and finds ways to win.
The Guardians went 21-8 in September in a weak division. They only strike out 18.3 percent of the time, but I still think this home side line-up will have its hands full with McClanahan.
Look for Tampa to dig deep here and find a way to deliver in Game 1. The play is the RAYS.
