THE INSIDERS ROOM'S 10* GAME OF THE WEEK (+1,900 ALL PREMIUMS!)
(NCAAF) LA Tech vs. Southern Miss,
Point Spread: 5.50 | -110.00 LA Tech (Away)
Result: Win
This is a 10* GAME OF THE WEEK on Louisiana Tech.

While I do think that the outright win is possible, in the end I'll recommend to grab as many points as you can.

Southern Miss comes in off a terrible 32-21 loss to South Alabama last week as a 12-point favorite.

Louisiana Tech's first game of the year was postponed because of a Covid outbreak, but they're good to go now.

Last year the Bulldogs thrashed the Golden Eagles 45-30 as 3-point underdogs.

Louisiana Tech lost its first game of the year last season to the Texas Longhorns, but the Bulldogs then posted eight straight victories in a row after that, en route to a 10-win season.

Louisana Tech then beat the Miami Hurricanes 14-10 in the Independence Bowl.

The Bulldogs lost starting QB J'Mar Smith, which is obviously significant. But Louisiana Tech has a strong replacement this year in Aaron Allen, who was 43 of 75 for 446 yards as Smith's backup last season. Allen also had three TD's and just one INT.

The rest of Louisiana Tech's "core" players return for the most part though. RB Justin Henderson had 1,062 yards and 15 TD's last year and he'll be leaned upon heavily once again.

Malik Stanley was the Bulldogs' No. 1 receiver last season and he's now moved on, but the next top five receivers are all back.

The Bulldogs defense was pretty good last year as well, allowing 21 points or less in eight of 13 games.

So now Louisiana Tech comes into Southern Miss to face a Golden Eagles team which got hammered at home outright as a double digit favorite...a loss which made Jay Hopson resign his position as head coach. Offensive coordinator Scotty Walden will serve as the temporary head coach now and I don't think that's a particularly good thing for this team, as such an early change in such an important position certainly brings little confidence to anyone involved right now.

Southern Miss QB Jack Abraham was a lone bright spot last week, as he completed nearly 70 percent of his passes for 314 yards. He had no INT's, but no TD's either.

The running game was pathetic though led by Frank Gore Jr, as it averaged only 2.6 yards per carry.

In all the Golden Eagles surrendered 526 total yards last week and I think they'll have their hands full with this explosive Bulldogs offense as well.

The Bulldogs are 6-3 ATS the last nine in this series as well.

Southern Miss will be eager to put last week's disappointment behind it, but the quick change at head coach is a significant mental blow for the Golden Eagles in my estimation.

I'm grabbing the points, but wouldn't be shocked by an outright!

Good luck, NP
