#647/648 ASA PLAY ON Over 147.5 Points – Marquette vs Creighton, Saturday at 2 PM ET - These 2 met @ Marquette earlier in the year and totaled 150 points with the Golden Eagles winning at home 49-41. They did so despite neither offense playing very well. The 2 teams combined to make just 40% of their shots overall and only 27% from beyond the arc. From an offensive efficiency standpoint Creighton averaged just 1.00 PPP and Marquette 1.11, both well below their season averages. It’s not as if they shot a ton of FT’s to make up for that either as they combined to attempt 33 at the charity stripe which is right on the average of what they’ve combined to attempt on the season. It was a fast paced game with 71 possessions and we see a similar tempo here and both like to push the ball when available. We expect a big jump offensively in this game from Creighton at home where they shoot really well (51%). They average 1.146 PPP at home (3rd best in the conference) and put up just over 80 PPG. They only Big East team that held the Jays to less than 79 points at home was St John’s who ranks 2nd nationally in defensive efficiency. Marquette’s offense has gotten to at least 70 points in 9 of their 12 Big East games and if they can get to that number or beyond again today we have no doubt this one goes Over.
