Betting Trend: UNLV is 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS in its last six road games.
Boise State is one step away from a likely first-round bye in the College Football Playoff, but it's going to take a Herculean effort to get there. UNLV is one of the most well-rounded college football teams, with a deadly rushing attack and a fearsome defense that gets into the backfield often and forces a lot of costly turnovers. The Rebels made Ashton Jeanty look almost average in the first matchup, holding the Broncos back to 128 yards on 33 carries (3.9 YPC). They were especially locked in on first down, holding him to about 4.6 yards per carry, significantly less than in the previous six games (11.7 YPC). Considering that the Broncos throw the pigskin at the 11th-lowest rate on first down, this will be a focus on Friday night.
On the other side of the ball, I expect more from the Rebels' offense. While Hajj-Malik Williams rushed for 105 yards on just 19 carries in the first matchup, a few of UNLV's other stars were noticeably quiet. Jai'Den Thomas had just seven carries in that loss, and Ricky White was held to five receptions. The stars will shine a lot brighter on Friday, however, giving UNLV the extra boost it needs to cover the spread.
